Brienne Hawker (NW 88th Court) said she serves on the city's Board of Adjustment and volunteers with Girls on the Run, and emphasized east‑side representation and demographic diversity. She confirmed she would likely run in any required special or general election.
Andrew Bovard (NW 134th Street) described seven years as an Army combat engineer, his family of four young children and a professional background in process improvement; he suggested tightening metrics attached to the city's strategic plan and affirmed he would run if appointed.
Council members asked each candidate about regionalization, collaboration with neighboring communities, and commitment to run should a special election be required. All three candidates answered affirmatively that they would run if appointed, though some qualified that personal or employment changes could affect future availability. Council indicated it preferred to wait until May 22 to make an appointment.
