Rocklin Unified board approves consent calendar, comprehensive school safety plans and a special-education appointment

At Monday’s meeting the Rocklin Unified School District board approved the consent calendar and separately approved item 8.16, the district’s comprehensive school safety plans for all campuses. Trustee Tiffany Sat pulled item 8.16 for the board’s attention to recognize the substantial work by school-site councils and staff; after discussion the board approved the item by roll call.
The clerk’s roll call for the consent calendar and item 8.16 recorded yes votes from student representative Audriana Boyce and trustees Tiffany Sat, Derek Counter, Julie Hup, Michelle Sutherland and Michelle Price. Trustee Sat said she pulled the item not out of concern but "out of appreciation for all of the work that went into these" and to note improvements in document organization that make cross-site comparison easier.
The meeting also reported out a closed-session action: the board unanimously approved the appointment of Teresa Prestige as assistant director of special education.
No other formal actions were recorded in open session on Monday; several agenda items were informational and the board scheduled a May study session to review facilities allocation options.
