Beer permit approved for Lazona Bar & Gaming Lounge after brief hearing

The Town of Smyrna Beer Board on April 6 approved an on‑premise beer permit for Lazona Bar & Gaming Lounge after a brief public hearing in which the applicant described a 21‑and‑older bar combined with on‑site gaming.

Owner Andro told the board the venue will be a “modern bar style with gaming live experience,” offering pool tables, darts and gaming consoles. He said the business will admit patrons 21 and older and that security will staff the door while bartenders will check identification. “It will be visual inspection,” Andro said when the board asked whether IDs would be scanned.

Board members asked about training and compliance; Andro said bartenders have not yet completed training but that the staff will be instructed “not to give extra drinks” and to avoid over‑service. He also said he and his partners have prior experience operating age‑restricted retail, including vape shops in the county.

Members clarified the board’s policy on special events and late‑night sales. The board noted that state rules prohibit beer sales between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. during special events; the applicant’s proposed 3:00 a.m. closing hour conforms with that restriction. After discussion a member moved to approve the on‑premise beer permit; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor. The owner was told the permit would be available for pickup after 10 a.m. the next day.

The action grants the applicant license to serve beer on the premises under the conditions discussed; board members did not record a roll‑call tally in the transcript.
