Pike County approves $20,000 in appropriations for health department bioterrorism grant spending

Health Office Manager Natalie Byrd told commissioners the bio-terrorism grant awarded earlier had not been appropriated and the funds must be expended by June. Commissioners approved a set of additional appropriations totaling $20,000: $1,000 for office supplies; $75 for postage; $40 for travel; $960 for cell phone; $12,000 for office furniture; $1,310 for marketing/communications; $115 for professional services postage; $2,000 for maintenance contracts; and $2,500 for storage equipment. (Amounts are taken from meeting materials presented at the April 6 session.)
Commissioner Jeff Nelson seconded by Commissioner Ryan Coleman moved to approve the appropriation and the motion passed 3-0. The appropriation brings the grant into the county’s adopted budget so the health department can spend the award within the grant’s timeframe.
