City highlights: Foxtail Golf update, kindness week proclamation and new public‑safety hire sworn in

At its Feb. 11 meeting the Rohnert Park City Council received a community update from Foxtail Golf Course, approved a proclamation recognizing Random Acts of Kindness Week and administered the oath of office to a newly hired Public Safety employee.
Tom Bugby (Foxtail) told the council Foxtail operates 36 holes, a driving range with Toptracer technology, and a broad calendar of community events that prioritize youth access and environmental stewardship. "Taxpayers own these golf courses and yet only about 10% of the public plays golf," Bugby said, explaining the course’s emphasis on community programming such as First Tee, PGA junior programs and free community events.
Director Cindy Bagley then presented a proclamation declaring Feb. 9–15 Random Acts of Kindness Week and described iHeart Rohnert Park events including community yoga, a senior health fair and a trivia night that staff are running to promote community engagement.
Deputy staff introduced Martin (Marty) Smith, and Mayor Dud administered the oath of office. Smith was introduced as a recent recruit from another department with prior experience in San Francisco police service and as a former 911 dispatcher. Family and colleagues joined for a badge‑pinning and photograph.
Councilmembers thanked speakers and staff for the presentations; no formal council action was necessary for the presentation or the proclamation beyond the ceremonial swearing‑in.
