Sheriff'9s station reports 1,520 November calls; pickpocketing spiked during Halloween carnival

Sergeant Omar Leeo, representing the West Hollywood Sheriff Station, briefed the Public Safety Commission on Nov. crime activity and enforcement efforts on Dec. 8.
"For the month of November, West Hollywood station personnel handled a total of 1,520 calls for service and 75 of those calls were for an emergency response," Sergeant Leeo said. He reported 43 felony arrests, 70 misdemeanor arrests and 158 part-one crimes for November. Broken down by district, the west side accounted for 66% of part-one incidents (105 incidents), the center 18% (27) and the east 16% (26). The station logged 52 pickpocket thefts in the Rainbow District, 34 of which occurred during the Halloween carnival; deputies and the MET team responded to a surge of carnival reports and follow-up filings.
Sergeant Leeo said the station plans two DUI saturation operations in December and that the station'9s entertainment policing team maintains a visible presence outside bars and clubs during busy nights. He also noted seven vehicle-versus-pedestrian collisions in November and that the station will keep deploying targeted teams where data show recurring problems.
Commissioners thanked the station for reporting new categories of data and pressed for access to crime-mapping tools and dashboards. The station noted volunteers contributed 195 hours in November.
No formal action resulted from the report; commissioners requested continued data sharing and a timeline for the city'9s vehicular data dashboard rollout.
