Security ambassador program reports thousands of contacts; kiosk relocated to Santa Monica/Larrabee

Allied Universal presented a monthly report to the Public Safety Commission on Dec. 8 showing patrol and outreach activity across West Hollywood and described recent operational changes to kiosk locations and reporting.
Jackie Hernandez, assistant/general manager for the security ambassador contractor, reported November citywide totals of 4,637 hospitality assists, 4,267 business contacts, 1,432 contacts with people experiencing homelessness, 703 calls for service, 25 safety escorts and 853 bike miles ridden by patrolling ambassadors. "We continue training our ambassadors and are at about 99% compliance for required trainings," Hernandez said.
Staff described a relocation of one kiosk from the Ramada Hotel on Santa Monica Boulevard closer to the Santa Monica/Larrabee intersection in response to business requests for more visible coverage. City staff said eight kiosks are in operation, two are 24/7 (West Hollywood Park and Veterans Park), and one site listed on the city'9s kiosk web page (Kings Road Park) is not yet in operation but will be rotated with Hart Park.
Commissioners asked about staffing levels and hours. Staff said current staffing is roughly 95% of target and that most kiosks operate 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to balance coverage and safety; nighttime coverage is instead supported by additional sheriff presence when needed. Commissioners also pressed staff on how residents request a new kiosk; staff said requests are considered after data review of calls for service and ambassador activity in the area.
The presentation reiterated referral protocols for outreach to unhoused people: ambassadors and deputies should call the city'9s homeless concern line, which staff said is monitored 24/7 at 323-848-6590 and will dispatch human-services outreach teams as appropriate.
Staff said that the security ambassador program will continue to refine reporting districts to align with sheriff reporting and to restore additional KPIs such as average response times. The commission did not vote on policy changes; staff will report additional district-level metrics in future monthly reports.
