Forest Park council approves multiple infrastructure contracts, awards engineering services; votes at a glance

At its Sept. 12 meeting the Village of Forest Park council approved a series of infrastructure contracts and related professional-engineering agreements aimed at alley and sidewalk repairs and the Van Buren multi-use path.
Resolutions approved included awarding the 2022 alley-improvement contract for the 400 block of Elgen and Harlem and hiring Christopher Burke Engineering to provide construction engineering services for the alley and sidewalk projects. Council members discussed the village's alley-inventory process and the need to post sidewalk schedules online so residents know when work will occur.
The council also approved a contract for the Van Buren multi-use path, which commissioners said will connect Madison Street toward the CTA parking lot, and authorized phase-two design work for 2023 alley improvements. The clerk read an aggregate list of departmental bills and allocations totaling $532,324.74; the council voted to dispense with reading each bill and approved the aggregate payments (Resolution R-77-D22).
Other actions at the meeting included authorization to accept an Illinois Department of Transportation State and Community Highway Safety grant (Resolution R-87-22) and passage of an ordinance to purchase two 5-ton rooftop air-conditioning units (Ordinance O-36-22). The council also approved routine community-event permits including a kids resale, a Chamber wine-walk banner and multiple entertainment licenses.
