County approves multiple utility-boring permits for fiber and wireless installations

The LaSalle County Highway Department voted to approve utility-boring permits that will allow fiber-optic and wireless infrastructure work along several county rights of way.
The highway engineer presented five permit requests: 26-02 (MCC/Verizon) for County Highway 14 between Tonica and Lowell in Eden and Vermilion townships; 26-03 and 26-04 (Clear Sky Systems) on County Highway 25 in Manlius and Miller townships; 26-05 (Surf Air Wireless) on County Highway 4 in Rutland Township (an updated permit for work not completed last year); and 26-06 (Surf Air Wireless) on County Highway 42 in Walls Township near Terracotta Road north of I‑80. Staff recommended approval of each permit and the board approved them by motion.
Board members did not request additional conditions or delayed review; the meeting record shows a standard voice vote of "Aye" to carry the motion. The highway engineer noted the work is to be installed along the right-of-way and in one case replaces a previously issued permit where the work was not completed last year.
