Speakers representing the Alabama Stings women's tackle football team introduced the organization and asked the council for support with facilities and fundraising.
Sabrina Mass told the council she was "honored today to be the first person to ever introduce the Alabama Stings Women's Tackle Football representing Mobile, Alabama," and asked for letters of support to present to local high schools and for any assistance the council could provide with finances or facilities. She said the team faces funding challenges and noted their first Mobile home game on April 18 at Cottage Hill Park with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
Karen Enoch Pedford, co-owner of the team, described the Stings as a community organization that offers athletic opportunities and wider support to women, including help finding housing for some players. She said the team serves as a platform for leadership and asked the council to consider support and recognition.
The council took no formal action during public comment but members congratulated the team and invited further engagement. The team asked specifically for letters of support and assistance securing a stadium for future games.
