Superintendent highlights tenure awards, retiree and Class of 2026 ACT results

Explaining tenure criteria, the superintendent said the State Board of Education determines tenure eligibility and that teachers must have at least five years with the district, strong composite evaluations in the most recent two years and recommendations from their principal and superintendent. "Tenure is basically a process that's determined by the State Board of Education...they have to have taught with the school system for 5 years...and in the most recent 2 years, they have to have the composite evaluations that exceed expectations," Dr. Hall said.
She called forward a set of tenured teachers from Lakeland Elementary School, recognizing Carrie Sutton, Kimberly Monifo, Tammy Madden, Casey Drewlinger, Jennifer Dixon, Nadine Hopper and Catherine Batson, among others. The superintendent also honored retiree Jenny Kilpatrick for long service in gifted education and technology and noted the district provided a reception and commemorative materials.
On student outcomes the superintendent said 21 students had ACT scores of 30 or above and 101 students scored 21 or above, equal to 62.7% of the class of 2026; she said rankings would be released in the fall when comparative data are available. The superintendent also noted Lakeland Preparatory School's theater production received 20 nominations for the High School Musical Theatre Awards and that multiple athletic teams had qualified for state competition.
The report concluded with logistical announcements about summer camps and parent-focused "Cub Care" sessions; no board questions were recorded immediately after the report.
