Residents urge farmland protection; council backs strategic‑plan update and student pledge idea

Separately, staff and residents reported problems with the city's new website notification process; staff acknowledged the issue and said they would investigate signups so residents receive meeting notices and staff reports.
On referrals, Council Member Otero introduced an update to the city's Strategic Plan (last revised March 23, 2020) and recommended public involvement through surveys, workshops and regular progress reports. Council members agreed to pursue the update with community outreach.
Council Member Terell Goad proposed inviting students to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at meetings to encourage civic participation; council asked staff to outline logistics and scheduling in a future staff report.
