Supporters said the role—described in a job description developed with input from the school superintendent and the police chief—combines security and student engagement. "The intent is for students to build familiarity and trust and comfort with a constant law enforcement presence in their school community," one committee member said while explaining why they changed a prior 'no' to a 'yes.'
