Board accepts five-year capital improvement plan and OKs feasibility studies for Shady Grove and high school

The Wissahickon School District board approved a five-year capital improvement plan and authorized several facilities actions, including feasibility studies for Shady Grove and the high school and contracts to develop specifications for roofing projects at Blue Bell and Sunny Creek elementary schools.
Tim, speaking for facilities and transportation items 16.1—16.5, said the Shady Grove and high school feasibility efforts will determine whether to renovate, add to or replace existing facilities, will review current building code requirements and will phase larger projects as needed. "This is not going to be anything quick," he said, describing several months of work and stakeholder input.
Board members asked for a more regular cadence of facilities discussion, given the scale of upcoming projects. The facilities team said the feasibility scope will include energy-efficiency options that could incorporate solar installations; the district plans a preliminary electric study at Stony Creek as a test case.
One board member noted that acceptance of the capital improvement plan assumes an increase in the district's debt-service budget line.
Motions to approve the CIP, feasibility studies and authorizations for professional services were made, seconded and passed by voice vote.
