Plainville previews April 6 election with three contested races, plans candidate debate

Plainville officials previewed the April 6 town election and said the town will host a debate that includes candidates for three contested races.
Brian Kelly, chair of the Plainville Select Board, said the contested seats include the select-board seat vacated by Maggie Holm, a King Philip School Committee seat and a planning-board seat; he said three candidates will run for the one select-board seat and that a studio debate is being arranged.
Kelly named several people in the discussion of candidates and contests, noting that one of the contenders for the select-board seat had previously served on the board and that other local figures, including a current school-committee chair and a housing-authority member, are running for seats.
Officials said the town does not expect a preliminary election and that the local contest will proceed to the April ballot. The program host said the station plans to host candidate interviews and a debate ahead of the vote.
