Resident asks county to require trail/sidewalk as Dominion Energy plans transmission-line changes

Schwenderman also reported that he found notice of a Dominion Energy plan to replace and consolidate existing transmission lines through Powhatan County, saying the utility intends to remove a 500,000‑volt Y‑shaped tower and a 230‑volt H‑frame and place the lines on a single monopole to make room in the corridor for another high‑voltage line. He asked whether Powhatan County could request that Dominion Energy build the trail shown in the county’s trails master plan along the high‑voltage easement if the utility proceeds with the transmission project.
Staff acknowledged the public comment and said such utility corridor decisions are made by the utility and that the Wawa design team could clarify sidewalk and stormwater details on the site plan. Commissioners did not take formal action on the transmission‑line assertion during the meeting; no Dominion Energy representative addressed the commission during the session.
