At an early-morning series of individual hearings, a property owner at 573 Reef Road told the board that the town’s $976,300 assessment ‘‘is preposterous’’ and proposed a revised value of $750,000 based on three nearby sales and conservative adjustments for a busy road. The owner, who said she has worked as a realtor for more than 30 years, argued the town ‘‘is really focusing on land rather than the house’’ and that the assessed figure did not reflect smaller square footage, traffic and proximity to industrial traffic.
