Public commenters urge bond support and question board member residency

During the public‑comment period, two speakers raised different concerns for the board.
Lance Euling told the board he supports a future bond override and said he would help the district’s outreach efforts. “I promised a good friend in here that I would do my best to help you guys get your override whatever measures or means that takes,” Euling said, adding he has spoken before local police and veterans organizations in support of the district.
Later, Nola Perkins addressed residency of a board member. “My name is Nola Perkins … it has come to my attention that Mr Bowers no longer has an Apache Junction address and therefore is not qualified to be on the Apache Junction School Board anymore,” Perkins said. Mr Bowers responded at the meeting that he still lives in Apache Junction and plans to move to Tempe only after his term ends in January.
The board did not take action during public comment; staff and board members clarified residency rules and confirmed the member’s statement that he still maintains an Apache Junction residence during his term.
