Commissioners asked for volunteer support to staff the arts commission table during the festivities.
Finally, members reported on MLK event planning: a meeting with Black community elders and youth council members produced recommendations to increase student art, spoken‑word opportunities and youth performance slots at future MLK commemorations; the commission said Pierce College will host next year’s event and that the youth council’s input will shape programming going forward.
Staff were asked to circulate event details and to coordinate performers, volunteers and logistics for the upcoming dates.
