The council opened the consent agenda (Resolutions 25-204 through 25-212) and approved it by roll call; the consent items included personnel actions and the appointment recorded earlier in committee discussion as Resolution 25207 to appoint Brian Drake to a supervisor position. The clerk recorded affirmative votes for present members on the consent agenda.
During new business the council considered Ordinance 15-25 for introduction (title only). Council members discussed the town's informal ordinance drafting process — described by one member as requiring four council members to indicate willingness to help craft an ordinance before formal introduction — and a member noted that this particular item had not followed that internal step. After discussion the council voted to introduce the ordinance on a recorded roll call. The roll call recorded the following votes on the introduction: Yes — Mr. Balen; Miss Deanasia; Mr. Man; Mr. Neely; Mr. Wakilski; Mayor Lynch. No — Mr. Hetrick; Mr. Murray; Mr. Weissman.
The introduction was for title only; no final adoption or substantive change to the town code occurred at this meeting. If the ordinance proceeds it will return to the council for further drafting, public hearing and subsequent votes required by the municipal ordinance process.
The council also approved two correspondence items by motion: a request from the Boonton Fire Department to hold its annual elections Nov. 7, 2025, at the Boonton Avenue Firehouse, and a Parks & Recreation request to hold a holiday gift‑wrapping event Dec. 17 at the senior center with attendees permitted to bring their own alcohol for this adult-only event. Both items were opened for discussion and approved by motion.
The meeting closed with no members of the public taking the podium during the public comment period; a motion to adjourn carried by voice vote.
