The San Bernardino City Unified School District board completed its annual organizational business and approved a series of personnel and disciplinary actions during Tuesday’s meeting.
Nominations and votes: board members nominated and elected Myra Sabios as board president and Mariana Grande as vice president after motion and second in open session. The board also appointed Amicio Ariano as board secretary and Karen Cunningham as assistant board secretary as part of routine organizational appointments.
Labor agreement adoption: the board held a public hearing and then adopted a memorandum of understanding with the California School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 183 to update two job descriptions — Computer Specialist 3 and Information Technology (IT) Services Control Technician — which the union ratified on Dec. 1, 2025. Dr. Wyatt moved the adoption and Mr. Tilman seconded the motion; the vote carried.
Personnel and discipline: in reported actions from closed session the board approved revised job descriptions for affirmative action positions and accepted hearing‑panel findings ordering expulsions for several students (student identifiers were read in closed session; names were not disclosed in open session). The board also accepted a notice of recommended disciplinary action for a classified employee (HR‑class‑25‑26‑02) and other personnel items listed on the agenda.
Consent and policies: the board approved its consent agenda, including a five‑year reportable fees report and referred district school police policies to the policy subcommittee for review. The board approved several mandated policy updates required by law.
What this means: The organizational elections set leadership for the coming year; the CSEA MOU finalizes updated IT classifications negotiated between the district and classified employees; closed‑session discipline items were adopted in accordance with applicable education code provisions, and the board signaled continued attention to personnel policy and compliance.
