Beaumont Unified trustees approve curriculum adoptions, special-tax resolution and several contracts

Beaumont Unified School District trustees on May 13 approved a slate of routine agenda items that included curriculum adoptions, a resolution setting special-tax levies, and several facilities and service agreements.
The board voted to adopt Studies Weekly as the elementary history instructional material for kindergarten through fifth grade after a brief presentation explaining the materials' update from the district's prior adoption (circa 2006) and describing the periodical/newspaper-style format intended to increase student engagement. Dr. Barnett addressed the board, saying the materials "meet the new requirements" under recently updated state guidance and provide hands-on activities for teachers.
Trustees also approved mClass (Amplify) as the district's instructional material for kindergarten through second grade. Board members thanked parents and teachers who reviewed the curriculum before the adoption.
On finance, the board adopted Resolution 2024-25-31 to establish the maximum and actual special-tax rates and authorize levy of special taxes for fiscal year 2025—26 for Community Facilities Districts 2018-1, 2020-1 and 2022-1.
