Key approvals included reappointment of Tanisha Hammet to a victim-survivor council (2026-0051) after she described her lived experience and attendance record; confirmation of Dr. Darren Brownley to the Cultural Service Grant Program committee (2026-0108); and reappointments and appointments to election advisory and other panels (Ray Pringle, Ed Williams). The committee also adopted emergency measures to seat two Five Points advisory boards and confirmed appointees who described business and neighborhood ties (Alonzo Walton; Jonathan David Wingard).
On smaller items, the committee designated First Coast Crime Stoppers as Duval County’s agent for the Florida Crimestoppers Trust Fund (2026-0155) so the county can apply for trust fund monies. The committee also approved a number of items on second read and routine ordinances in bulk by recorded votes; most passed unanimously (common tallies were six or seven yays, zero nays on the recorded votes reported in the meeting).
Several items were deferred at sponsor request or because appointees were not present; the chair said staff would follow up and that items deferred repeatedly would be checked before the next meeting.
