Lynbrook students honored for journalism, visual arts and athletics; teams donate $2,500 to local breast-cancer coalition

Trustees spent a portion of the meeting highlighting student achievements in journalism, visual arts and athletics and acknowledging community-minded fundraising.

Dr. Lynch announced that the high-school newspaper Horizon won multiple Empire State Scholastic Press Association awards, including best overall paper and multiple individual honors for student journalists and artists. The Burns Ciderman Gallery’s Winter Gala Festival of the Arts was presented as a showcase of work by students in grades 9–12 across studio art, printmaking, AP art and digital design.

The board also recognized the varsity girls soccer team for a conference championship (the first in roughly a decade) and praised the boys volleyball program for back-to-back conference titles.
