Residents urge San Bruno to fix park lighting and revisit downtown parking decision

Two public commenters addressed the council on neighborhood safety and downtown concerns during the Feb. 11 public-comment period.
Chris told the council there are several nonworking lights along the backside walking path at Diamond 3 that have been reported to city departments for roughly eight months and called the dimly lit areas a safety hazard for children, seniors and pedestrians. Chris said roughly two or three lights are completely out and asked the city to repair them promptly.
A second resident expressed disappointment about a recent council vote that blocked a proposal for free Sunday parking downtown, urged greater public participation (criticizing the absence of an ad hoc community committee), and asked council members to prioritize repairs at Belir Elementary School. The speaker said while downtown change can be difficult, residents should support local businesses and the council should create avenues for broader community input.
Council members thanked the speakers and staff indicated follow-up would occur where appropriate.
