Bill Kefan addressed the council during public comment and urged the city to finalize a cannabis ordinance that would enable the city to capture revenue similar to neighboring jurisdictions.
Kefan said he has watched other cities adopt streamlined ordinances of eight to 10 pages and that such models could be tailored to Montclair rather than using very long drafts. He said, "I see cities like Pomona raking in these hundreds of thousands of dollars and my CLA could do the same thing," and offered council and consultants his assistance.
Kefan said he did not expect a detailed response at the moment but asked the council and any consultant involved to contact him if they had questions. No staff or council member provided a substantive response to the comment during the public comment period.
The comment was recorded as part of the public comment portion of the meeting; council did not take action on the ordinance at this session.
