Middletown council approves $146,000 design work for CO2 system, new parks truck and water‑supply contracts

The Middletown City Council on March 17 voted to authorize a professional services agreement with Hazen and Sawyer to develop plans and specifications to replace aging CO2 storage and feed equipment at the city’s water treatment plant at a cost not to exceed $146,000.
City Manager Ashley Combmes told council the current CO2 system was installed in 1992 and that the planned replacement will use a vertical storage tank, buried piping and updated diffusers to improve reliability and capacity. "The new equipment will ensure greater reliability," Combmes said during the staff report.
Council also approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford F‑550 from Rush Truck Centers of Cincinnati for $119,795.35 for the parks maintenance division; staff said the vehicle will be equipped with a dump body, snowplow and sand‑and‑salt spreader and that the replaced vehicle will be sold on GovDeals. Funding is available in the garage fund.
Finally, council awarded contracts to multiple vendors to provide parts and supplies for the water maintenance division. The bid package was divided into eight sections; awarded pricing will be valid through Feb. 28, 2027, according to staff.
All three motion‑agenda items were moved, seconded and passed by roll‑call votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
