The Westford School Committee has started a multi-year feasibility study examining options for Robinson Elementary School, including renovating existing facilities or building a new consolidated kindergarten-through-fifth-grade school, district officials and architects said.
Architects leading the study told the committee they will evaluate factors such as student development, instructional needs, equity and family impact. The feasibility process is expected to take about 18 months, with a potential funding proposal going to voters in the fall of 2027 if the committee pursues a construction or renovation plan.
District leaders said the study will take a districtwide perspective, reviewing enrollment, space usage and specialized programs such as special education. The architects and school leaders will develop a detailed educational program to guide decisions on classroom size, specialized spaces and building design.
Public engagement is planned early in the process: several meetings this spring will seek resident feedback on priorities including sustainability, traffic, safety and preferred school locations. School officials emphasized that early community input will shape the educational program and ultimately guide facility decisions and any redistricting that might follow.
