The Ways and Means Committee of Peoria County met March 23 and approved the minutes from its Feb. 23 meeting and a resolution addressing monthly delinquent taxes for February 2026 by voice vote, with no opposition recorded.
The chair called for approval of the February 23 minutes; Marsha moved and Matt Windish seconded the motion. The chair solicited any changes, recorded none, and announced, "The eyes have it," confirming approval by voice vote.
Later in the agenda the committee considered a resolution on monthly delinquent taxes for February 2026. The chair requested a motion; Matt Windish moved to bring the item to the floor, Marsha seconded, and the chair again recorded approval by voice vote, noting no opposing votes.
The committee also heard several informational items. County Clerk Rachael Parker told members new county directories had been printed and placed at members' seats at the prior county board meeting and said extras are available at the clerk’s office for distribution to constituents.
Treasurer Branden Martin briefed the committee on tax-collection operations, saying mobile-home tax bills have been issued and staff are working to catch up on past-due accounts. "Everything's been going really smooth with that. Trying to get people caught up uh for all the past due stuff as we are taking those to tax sale this year for all those delinquents," Martin said. He added the treasurer's office is moving next week and expects to be fully operational in the new location by April 3, 2026, with dual operations during the transition.
Staff member Melissa presented the first-quarter update on the 2026 strategic plan actions and said there are no strategic-plan actions that report directly to the Ways and Means Committee; the committee will receive this report quarterly. A committee member complimented the report’s layout and brevity.
There were no miscellaneous public comments and the chair adjourned the meeting.
