Menifee outlines 250th‑themed summer events, expands Independence Celebration fireworks

Community Services Leader 2 Savannah Jackson reported on the 2026 youth basketball season: 276 registered participants (about 91% Menifee residents), 28 teams, 23 volunteer coaches (15 of them new) and an inaugural all‑girls division of four teams. Jackson thanked volunteer coaches and recognized championship teams and coaches.
Community Services Manager Gabby Cal then previewed the city’s spring and summer slate, including a recap of Spring Fest and a lineup of Park After Dark movie nights and community festivals. Key dates announced include Menifee Better Together on April 25 (project check‑in at 7:00 a.m.; kickoff at 7:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints on Bradley Road); Park After Dark kickoff May 22 at Remington Park paired with an adaptive sports fair; a May 29 screening at Banner Village Park; Menifee Moonlight Market and Concert on June 12 at Underwood Park; and a second Moonlight Market on July 10 at Centennial Park.
The city’s biggest event of the summer will be the Independence Celebration on June 27 at Wheatfield Park, which will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a community parade and feature food and craft vendors, family competitions, a beer garden, and a headlining performance by Fat Cat Swinger. Cal said the fireworks display will be larger than in previous years: a planned 20‑minute show with a one‑minute grand finale, using roughly 2,400 aerial shells and 1,500 total shots with specialty effects.
Cal also noted special event tie‑ins to the 250th theme—250 golden eggs at Spring Fest, commemorative 250th branded giveaways, and items such as cooling towels and beach balls available at select events.
