Peoria County's infrastructure committee on March 17 approved a slate of engineering agreements, bid awards and an architecture contract aimed at roadway, courthouse and township maintenance projects.
The committee adopted a preliminary engineering agreement for traffic-signal upgrades along the Airport Road corridor, with an agreement amount of $182,458. Staff said the work will replace aging controllers, add a flashing left-turn arrow at Garfield, improve ADA sidewalk ramps and install audible pedestrian crossing push-buttons to achieve ADA compliance. "The controllers are showing some age," staff member Jeff said, adding several controller components and battery-backup systems have failed.
