Community speakers urge board to retain head football coach Jonathan Flity

Other parents repeated that message. Tav Ley said Flity “has been far more than a coach to my children” and described the coach as a mentor who teaches “responsibility, character, teamwork, and accountability.” Several speakers said losing the coach would cost the district more than on‑field wins, because of his family’s ties and contributions to the community.
Flity addressed the board directly and asked for the chance to keep growing in the role. “Coaching has never been just a job to me,” he said, acknowledging areas where he can improve and asking for an environment that allows for development and accountability.
Board members did not take any formal personnel action during the meeting; the public comment period concluded and the board proceeded with its consent agenda and other items. Any formal contract or personnel decision would be expected to appear later on the agenda or after the board’s planned executive session on personnel matters.
