Parks, sports and community events: tournaments, Texoma soccer and Easter egg hunt planned

Staff recapped a collegiate winter blast tournament that was moved up a day because of ice and snow; five teams canceled but organizers estimated about 75 total room nights from visiting teams and said five traveling teams stayed in Denison hotels and one used an Airbnb. The parks report noted that Texoma Soccer Association play and other leagues will increase weekend activity; Parks staff said Texoma Soccer serves roughly 1,400 kids in the region.
The department also previewed an Easter egg community event set for April 2 at THF Park from 6 to 8 p.m., for which staff ordered 30,000 eggs and requested volunteers. Planned attractions include a petting zoo, carnival rides, inflatables, vendors and food trucks, and the event will be organized by age group.
Parks staff closed by encouraging volunteer recruitment and noting additional upcoming community programs, including youth and senior activities.
