Council appoints plumber to Building Code of Appeals, schedules Clay Street hearing and remands winter-parking changes to Public Works
Summary
The council approved Benjamin Pearson to the Building Code of Appeals 6-0, failed to appoint Doug Robinson after no second was recorded, scheduled a public hearing on making Clay Street one-way for April 13, 2026 (6-0), and tabled the winter-parking ordinance to send it back to Public Works for further study.

The Laconia City Council took several procedural actions on routine business.
Appointments: The council considered two candidates for the Building Code of Appeals. A motion to appoint Douglas Robinson failed for lack of a second. A separate motion to appoint Benjamin Pearson, a licensed plumber of 22 years, was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote (recorded as 6-0). The clerk will contact Mr. Pearson for swearing-in so he may participate at the upcoming meeting.
Clay Street public hearing: The City Manager said a printing error had listed the wrong date for an earlier motion; the council unanimously (6-0) scheduled a public hearing for April 13, 2026 during the regular council meeting to take public input on making Clay Street one-way from Bowman Street to Fair Street and prohibiting parking on the odd-numbered side.
Winter-parking ordinance: After public comment, the council moved to table further action on the winter-parking ordinance (vote recorded 6-0) and sent the issue back to Public Works for review and to coordinate with Planning and Police on enforcement and permit options.
These actions were taken during the meeting's early and late procedural business; councilors requested staff follow-up on swearing-in logistics, public-notice clarifications and additional technical review from DPW and planning staff.
