Hinsdale board approves appointments, playground contract, routine payments and ratifies emergency water‑main repairs

The Hinsdale Village Board approved a slate of administrative and capital items at the March 16 meeting, including appointments to boards and commissions, a playground contract, routine payments and the ratification of emergency water-main repairs.

Appointments: Trustees approved nominations to village boards and commissions, including Carly Kiteman to the Economic Development Commission, Dr. Kevin Casey to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the reappointment of Julie Cernovich to the Plan Commission. The roll call recorded unanimous approval.

Minutes and consent: The board approved the minutes of its March 3 meeting (roll call recorded four yes votes and two abstentions) and approved the accounts‑payable list for March 4–16, 2026 in the aggregate amount read to the board ($1,245,053.15).

Robins Park playground contract: On second read the board awarded a contract to D&J Landscaping, Inc., of Shorewood, Illinois, for installation of a new Robins Park playground in an amount not to exceed $312,653.70, including alternates. Trustees noted the project is funded in part by a donor-advised fund and that construction is expected to begin in April with completion in June 2026.

Emergency water-main repairs: Trustees ratified emergency repairs contracted to an outside plumbing firm for $38,310 after three leaks on Sixth Street and additional breaks elsewhere. Public works staff attributed the failures primarily to freeze-thaw ground shifting and said the expense will be charged to the water‑system maintenance account.

All formal roll-call votes were recorded in the meeting minutes. Trustee Jesse Burns noted that infrastructure costs are an ongoing concern and asked staff to monitor and report on major system repairs.
