Parks and Recreation Director Dave Jans opened the panel by explaining the process: each student had up to 10 minutes to present and answer a standard set of questions, commissioners would not deliberate at the special session, and recordings plus application packets would be made available so absent commissioners could participate in next week’s deliberations. "You will not be making your decisions tonight," Jans said, adding the recordings and materials are intended to let commissioners revisit applicants before voting.
