The Burlingame Planning Commission approved a master sign program for a new upper-floor sign at 1450 Chapan Avenue during its Feb. 24 meeting. The proposed sign is approximately 10.3 square feet and would be installed on a secondary frontage facing the parking area.
Staff noted the request was required because code does not allow signage above the first floor without a master sign program; staff provided the findings and recommended four conditions of approval. No applicant representative appeared in the chamber or on Zoom; the commission opened and then closed the public hearing with no public testimony.
Commissioner Schmid moved to approve the application per the staff report and resolution findings; Commissioner Haran seconded. The roll-call vote was recorded and the motion passed. Staff emphasized the master sign program generally allows one upper-floor sign per frontage and future tenants proposing additional upper-floor signage would need to ensure compliance or apply for an amended master sign program.
The action is subject to the standard 10-day appeal period to the City Council.
