Manhattan Beach council approves agenda, recesses into closed session

Council member Sherinian moved to approve the agenda and Council member Howard seconded; the presiding officer announced, "Motion passes 4-0-1." The meeting then moved to a closed session to consider two items listed on the agenda.
The city attorney stated that the council would go into closed session "pursuant to the Brown Act," citing the state open-meetings law as the basis for the closed deliberations. The items to be discussed in closed session were identified on the meeting agenda but were not described in the open session record.
There were no public commentators in chambers and no requests to speak from Zoom, and the presiding officer closed the public-comment period before adjourning the open session. The council recessed the public meeting and convened the closed session; no votes on substantive policy items were recorded in the open session.
