According to the minutes, board members said AI note-takers posed risks to data sovereignty and consent. After a period of discussion the motion to restrict AI applications was withdrawn; the board agreed to revisit the matter at the next in-person meeting to allow broader dialogue and more complete consideration of policy parameters.
The minutes do not record a roll-call vote or an individual mover for the withdrawn motion. Board members did not adopt a permanent policy at the Feb. 19 meeting but signaled an intention to develop clearer parameters for whether, when and how AI-driven recording or transcription tools might be used in future sessions.
