At its April 6 meeting at the Charles Perine building the Gardner City Council on Aging approved the previous meeting’s minutes (with a small correction) and accepted the treasurer’s report.
The board thanked volunteers and reviewed old‑business items including proposed color palettes for senior center rooms. Members discussed limiting the number of paint colors to control costs and previewing swatches before committing to a full repaint; board members suggested using existing darker gray on the lower wall to reduce visible scuffing.
Mike presented several program updates: the senior center’s tax‑assistance clinics completed more than 150 returns this season after adding a Saturday session; the St. Patrick’s Day event reached capacity and received positive feedback; upcoming events include a memory cafe on April 15, a Kentucky Derby event on May 5, a caregiver‑focused “soul care” program on May 27, a June ukulele outing and a July 1 concert, with a summer outing planned for July 22.
Mike also noted the handover purchase order for Boston Pops tickets (original PO $12,000) was liquidated and the center now holds 82 tickets for the holiday concert. He said staff will finish furniture moves related to the Waterford Street project in the coming weeks.
A motion to adjourn passed and the board set its next meeting for Monday, May 4 at 2 p.m.
