Roxbury to consider awarding 15-year solar contract estimated to save $1.6 million

The Roxbury Township School District is preparing to open bids for a solar-energy contract and expects to consider awarding a 15-year agreement at the next board meeting, a business-administration official said.
Business administrator Joe told trustees the analysis so far indicates the contract — over a projected 15-year life — would save the district approximately $1.6 million. "Over the life of the contract which is 15 years we probably save about 1.6 million," he said, while noting the formal award would come after opening the RFP and subsequent evaluation.
Facilities and finance committee reports at the meeting referenced the solar RFP, and the facilities committee asked the board to expect further updates on technical planning, including coordination with any scheduled fire-alarm upgrades at select schools. The business office said the district could bring the award for approval at the next board meeting once proposals are reviewed.
No contract was awarded during this meeting; the board will consider the formal procurement action at a future session after the RFP opening and vendor evaluations.
