Residents press council on growth, drainage and parking enforcement

Several residents used the public-comment period to press the council on development, drainage and a recent code-enforcement action.

Adam Dovy told the council he is concerned about rezoning and new development (Spruce Creek, Creek Crossing) that he said affects drainage, traffic and neighborhood character. "I'm very concerned about everything from Smoke Farms Road all the way to Dan for the aquifer," Dovy said, asking the council to keep overdevelopment on the forefront when evaluating rezonings.

Separately, Adam Sarwi described a code-enforcement notice telling him he could not park on a grassy area next to his single-car driveway. Sarwi said the rule felt inconsistent because residents can sometimes park in the public right-of-way adjacent to the sidewalk but not on their own turf, and he asked whether a variance or grandfathering could be considered; he said he had emailed pictures to councilmembers.

Councilmembers responded that parking rules aim to be consistent citywide and suggested residents speak to police about legal parking options. Councilmembers also said there may be options such as formal driveway extensions (pavers, gravel) and that staff would look into possible variance or administrative solutions.

What happens next: Councilmembers said the hunting-lease item is scheduled for discussion on April 21; for code-enforcement they urged the resident to work with staff and police and said staff would revisit the matter where appropriate.
