After opening a public hearing, the Orland Park Board of Trustees approved an ordinance authorizing an annexation agreement with Mela Landscaping for property on West 179th Street.
Staff explained the property had been identified as a high‑priority parcel in prior annexation studies and that the Melka family opted to enter into an annexation agreement rather than be subject to involuntary annexation. Trustees clarified that existing operations and equipment could continue but that any new changes or expansions would have to comply with village rules and codes.
Trustees expressed support for welcoming Mela Landscaping into the village. Following the public hearing and a brief period for board questions, the board moved to close the hearing, consider the ordinance out of order, and then adopted the ordinance by voice/roll call vote. The clerk recorded the approvals on the record and the mayor welcomed the business to Orland Park.
