Liberty County approves precinct consolidations and election notice for May 26, 2026 runoff

The Liberty County Commissioners Court on April 6 approved proposed precinct consolidations for the May 26, 2026 joint primary runoff election and authorized the notice and publication plan.
Miss Chambers of the county clerk’s office presented a consolidation plan that includes combining precincts (discussed specifically were precincts 2 and 3 and additional local consolidations). Commissioners expressed concerns about site capacity and parking at consolidated polling places but agreed the plan should work for the runoff; they discussed monitoring the sites and considering larger venues for future general elections. Bruce moved to approve the consolidation; Greg seconded the motion, which passed by voice vote.
Miss Chambers then presented the notice of election and publication plan for the May 26 runoff. She confirmed that once the notice is signed it will be published in the newspaper and posted on the election website to inform voters of the changes. A motion to approve the notice and publication passed following a second (Eric was recorded speaking during the second).
