Valley Stream trustees approve Mayor Fair’s slate of appointments and a package of routine resolutions

Mayor Fair announced a group of appointments under Resolution 058-26 that named Richard Manggeles as deputy village clerk of personnel, Thomas Mul as deputy village treasurer for planning and development, Steven Aquavller as storm water official and John L. Tiller as associate village justice, each for a one-year term ending April 5, 2027. The slate continued with zoning, planning, library, ethics and examining board appointments and multiple part-time fire prevention inspector designations.
The board moved and seconded the resolutions and recorded roll-call votes of "Yes" from the trustees and the mayor on the appointments. The mayor also established a storm water committee and named its members.
Trustees then approved a series of additional resolutions recorded in the transcript: Resolution 059-26 certifying the village auditors, Resolution 060-26 retaining Mike T. Hutton and Associates PLLC for legal services, and Resolution 061-26 approving minutes. Subsequent approvals included measures on unpaid taxes, a public hearing for a fire department contract, contract and lease agreements, a Walden Environmental Engineering LLC work order request (Resolution 066-26), and permits for the Memorial Day parade and a temporary street closing (Resolutions 067-26 and 068-26).
The board also approved Resolution 070-26 authorizing payment of voted advances and instructing that abstracts of ordered batches be paid upon majority approval. Each resolution in the transcript was moved, seconded and passed by roll call with affirmative votes.
Mayor Fair designated city liaisons and department assignments for the coming official year, including liaison roles for the Chamber of Commerce, public safety committees, parks and departments related to schools and recreation. The mayor named the Valley Stream Herald, News and Tribune as the village’s official newspapers and set the schedule for work sessions (first Monday monthly, 6:30 p.m.) and regular meetings (third Monday monthly, 7:00 p.m.).
The meeting closed with the mayor congratulating those appointed and inviting appointees present to sign the oath-of-office book; attendees were thanked and dismissed.
