Christine told commissioners that interest may not be paid on the refund and that homestead status can be reinstated only for the current year and the two prior years under county practice; she summarized the paperwork showing a 2016 foreclosure, a sheriff's sale, a redemption that was recorded in some offices but not in the county tax system, and a mortgage satisfaction in 2024. The board voted to approve the refund and to waive the identified penalties in accordance with staff recommendations.
Commissioners thanked staff for investigating the multi‑year administrative error and asked that the affected owner be contacted after the action.
