Sara Dressel, human resources director, asked the committee to recommend Common Council approval of revised job descriptions for two street-department roles. Dressel said McGrath Human Resources Group reviewed the descriptions and recommended reclassifying the inventory assistant operator from pay grade 124 to 126 because of added inventory, equipment operation and intermittent training responsibilities. She said McGrath recommended retaining the $5-per-hour training differential for employees who perform CDL instruction because training occurs sporadically but has high market value.
Dressel said McGrath found no pay-grade adjustment necessary for the fleet services coordinator despite incorporating training duties; the $5-per-hour differential would remain when incumbents provide training. She noted that if CDL training becomes a frequent, regular duty in the future, the city should re-evaluate whether to set a specific dollar amount or adjust pay grades.
A motion to recommend approval was made and seconded; the committee voted in favor and the motion carried. The transcript records no named mover or a roll-call vote. The committee’s recommendation will move to the Common Council for final action.
