Phases discussed include completing a segment along an abandoned rail line to connect Spider Worthman Park and areas just past Buttonwood, building a segment on the north side of the creek that would reach the tracks and bridge, and a westward expansion that could follow the creek and end near the frisbee-golf course where parking is already available to serve as a trailhead.
Commissioners emphasized that the trail project is being planned in stages and encouraged public input; staff and a trails committee member had met with the mayor to align priorities, including the abandoned rail line as a high priority. The board asked staff to continue planning and to report updates at future meetings.
