Wildwood Crest council accepts traffic‑safety grants, approves engineer work order and fields license, OKs fireworks

The Borough accepted a 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety covering Aug. 15–Sept. 1, 2025 in the amount of $2,800 and authorized the CFO to pay a flat rate per hour to law enforcement for the mobilization. The council also adopted an amendment to the 2025 municipal budget to account for the additional mobilization funding.
Separately, the council authorized a borough engineer work order for the New Jersey Avenue streetscape (Heather Road to Coline Road) with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $55,000 to cover grading, electrical and mechanical design work not included in the county's infrastructure contract. Council members said the county will handle sanitary sewer and water main replacements while the borough’s work covers parcels it owns adjacent to planned streetscape work.
The council approved a licensing agreement with the Southern Cape Stingrays to permit youth baseball use of Higs Field and Morris Field for games and tournaments, and unanimously authorized a fireworks display at Seafare's celebration on Sept. 20, 2025.
