Council members said retaining participation preserves future inspection revenue for the city; staff noted that once a certified employee is available the city would retain the full fee rather than sharing it with an interim contractor.
Next steps: The appointment was approved as part of the consent agenda; staff will continue efforts to hire or reassign a certified inspector so inspection revenue accrues directly to the city.
